Round Two of "Oh Shit, I'm Pregnant... Now What?" Has Come to a Close. Six weeks. New friendships. Countless questions answered. And so much confidence gained.
“I came in feeling very nervous and overwhelmed and I'm leaving feeling very confident in my ability to become a mom."
As we wrapped up our second round of Oh Shit, I'm Pregnant... Now What??, we couldn't help but reflect on what an incredible experience it was. Watching a group of soon to be first-time moms walk through pregnancy together reminded us exactly why we created this series. Pregnancy can feel exciting, overwhelming, emotional, and sometimes a little scary.
"Kimmy from Florida Birth Movement made us feel so seen. We had real conversations about what we're all experiencing during pregnancy, and she answered so many of our questions."
Our goal has always been to create a space where expecting moms can ask questions, connect with one another, and feel supported by experts who truly understand this season of life. Over the past six weeks, our moms learned from incredible local professionals covering everything from mental wellness during pregnancy, movement and regulation, pelvic floor health, newborn safety, feeding, nutrition, and preparing for life with baby. More importantly, they built a community they can continue leaning on long after the series ends. “The feeding workshop and the nutrition workshop were the most impactful because they helped me know what healthy snacks and meals to feed my baby." For another participant, meeting our pelvic floor specialist made all the difference:
“I loved talking to Dr. Emma. She gave me so much clarity."
We ended the series the best way we know how celebrating these amazing moms before their little ones arrive. Our final night included maternity portraits with their spouses, an Olive Garden dinner, lots of laughter, and some friendly competition. Soon-to-be moms and their partners raced to see who could diaper and swaddle a teddy bear the fastest, and it quickly became everyone's favorite memory of the evening. These six weeks make it feel motherhood doesn't have to start alone. Building a safe community for moms before baby arrives can make all the difference.
